WATCH: Former Bama RB Josh Jacobs has incredible NFL debut with Raiders

The Oakland Raiders got off to a 1-0 start with the 24-16 win over the Denver Broncos Monday night.

Coming into his rookie season, everyone knew of Josh Jacobs incredible story. From being homeless to arriving as a no-name recruit at Alabama, Jacobs showed America Monday night that he’s going to be a real weapon for the Raiders and a real problem for NFL defenses.

Jacobs became the first player since Hall of Fame back LaDainian Tomlinson (rookie in 2001) to record 100 yards from scrimmage in his rookie debut. Jacobs rushed for 85 yards and recorded 28 receiving yards in the win.

“It’s huge — I mean, I just found that out,” Jacobs said after his debut. “I looked up to him. That’s my favorite running back of all time. Just to be mentioned with him, that’s a blessing. That’s very humbling.”

The rookie from Alabama recorded a game-high 23 carries as the Raiders’ featured back. Only Colts running back Marlon Mack recorded more rushing attempts in Week 1 with 25.

Jacobs scored his first official NFL touchdown with 3:30 left in the second quarter. His touchdown gave the Raiders a 14-0 lead.

Later in the fourth quarter, Jacobs recorded his only catch of the game for 28 yards.

Jacobs also punched it in for his second touchdown of the game later in the fourth quarter.

Of course, game one isn’t an indication of Jacobs’ career, because the shelf-life of NFL running backs isn’t long; however, Jacobs is off to a huge start in Oakland.
