Josh Jacobs is a major topic of conversation at the NFL Combine.
The former Bama back is limited with an injury at this week’s Combine, and he didn’t participate in the bench press on Thursday.
Jacobs is the do-it-all running back that NFL teams salivate over, and most mock drafts have him as a first-round pick. His versatility makes him a three-down back and one to watch for 2019’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.
On Thursday, Jacobs met with media members, and he revealed he receives advice from former Alabama standouts like Derrick Henry and Mark Ingram.
“He’s (Derrick Henry) like a funny big brother, honestly,” Jacobs said, via Rivals.com. “He makes a lot of jokes. But his work ethic when he comes back and he works out with us is just different. So, it just shows me the level of competition I need to be at. He gives me great tips and advice. Even on the game, whether he sees me need to slow down on a run or anything like that. He helps me out.”
The greatest thing he learned from Henry?
“Making the best out of everything in practice. Because he was like one of the best practice players we ever had,” Jacobs said. “He was just telling me, ‘Grind hard in practice, and it will pay off.’”
Interestingly, the two couldn’t be more different. Henry is a bigger shifty bulldozer and one of the biggest backs to ever play in the SEC, while Jacobs is smaller, faster and shiftier than the former Heisman Trophy winner.
NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah also caught up with Jacobs on Thursday. Jeremiah asked Jacobs how Alabama prepared him for this moment in the NFL.
“It prepared me the most with just the meetings and the long days just being mentally prepared for everything that they ask me,” Jacobs responded.
