It’s a busy time of year for high school recruiting, so it’s a good time to take a peak at the updated SEC recruiting rankings with just a few months to go before the Early Signing Period.

We previously broke down the SEC’s top 5 classes as of Father’s Day. There’s been plenty of movement since then with numerous 5-star prospects announcing their commitment between mid-June and Independence Day.

In the national rankings, USC still holds the No. 1 spot as of publication — but multiple SEC programs are gaining on the Trojans.

Top 5 SEC recruiting classes as of July 4

Here’s an updated look at the top 5 SEC recruiting classes as of Independence Day:

Note: Rankings are based on 247Sports Composite.

No. 5: Texas

Texas finished last cycle with the nation’s No. 1-ranked class and the Longhorns seem to be on track toward another big cycle. The Longhorns have 16 commits overall, including 2 from 5-star prospects. Amongst SEC teams, only Alabama and Texas hold commitments from multiple 5-stars at this point in the cycle. This is a class that’s been built in a hurry — 4 of Texas’s 7 highest-ranked prospects have committed since the beginning one June. One longtime commit, 5-star QB Dia Bell, hit a big milestone this June as he was named Elite 11 MVP.

No. 4: LSU

LSU had a relatively quiet June compared to some of its SEC counterparts. The Tigers went from No. 3 to No. 4 after earning just 1 commitment during the month of June. The class is still led by 5-star receiver Tristen Keys, who is regarded as the No. 3 overall player and the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation. LSU only has 12 commits so far, but the Tigers are here because 10 of those commits are blue-chip prospects. If that trend continues, you’ll see LSU in the top-5 of the national rankings at the end of this cycle.

No. 3: Alabama

Alabama has been the biggest mover since the June update. The Crimson Tide didn’t crack the top-5 last time but have now moved all the way up to No. 3. Alabama has just 17 commits so far, lagging far behind UGA and Texas A&M, but it makes up for it with quality. Alabama leads all SEC programs with a trio of 5-star commits so far. Two of those 5-stars, Xavier Griffin and Cederian Morgan, have committed over the last week or so. There’s upside for Alabama to climb even higher in these rankings.

No. 2: Texas A&M

Texas A&M remains at No. 2 in the updated SEC rankings as well. The Aggies have picked up 8 commitments since the June update and, like Georgia, also have 19 commits from blue-chip recruits. Five-star athlete Brandon Arrington committed on June 19, giving the Aggies their first Composite 5-star of this cycle. Texas A&M so far has 6 commitments from top-100 prospects.

No. 1: Georgia

Georgia ranked No. 1 on this list back in June and the Bulldogs are still here as of July 4. However, UGA has done a lot of work in the intervening weeks. The Bulldogs have added 10 commits since the last update, giving them 26 overall. Georgia has commitments from a remarkable 19 blue-chippers, giving it the No. 2 class nationally right behind USC. The group is still led by 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis.

The Early Signing Period for the class of 2026 begins in December.
