Justin Gage is one of the central figures in the history of Missouri football. So it’s only fitting as Missouri gets set to begin the 2023 season on Thursday with a home matchup vs. South Dakota that he narrated the hype video.

Leading up to the season opener, the Missouri legend lent his voice to the video that incorporated highlights from past moments of glory.

Gage played an instrumental role in the history of Missouri football, holding program records for all-time receptions (200), all-time receiving yards (2,704), receptions in a season (82 in 2002), most receiving yards in a game (236 vs. Baylor in 2001), and most receptions in a game (16 at Bowling Green in 2002). Gage was also First-team All-Big 12 in 2001 and Second-team All-Big 12 in 2002.

Gage also played basketball at Missouri and was a member of the 2002 squad that reached the Elite Eight.

Gage was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 5th round of the 2003 NFL Draft. In 2007, Gage led the Tennessee Titans in receiving yards (750) and was tied for receptions (55). During his NFL career, Gage compiled 201 receptions for 2,958 yards, and 16 touchdowns.

Missouri finished with a 6-7 record last season, capped off with a 27-17 loss to Wake Forest in the Gasparilla Bowl.

This is the first meeting between Missouri and South Dakota. The contest is slated to begin at 8 p.m. EST and will be televised on SEC Network.
