Kadarius Toney has been a topic of discussion for the Kansas City Chiefs throughout their playoff run. Sunday evening, he officially received his status for Super Bowl LVIII as Kansas City prepares to face the San Francisco 49ers.

Unfortunately for the former Florida star, Toney will not be active for the Super Bowl in Allegiant Stadium. He is a healthy scratch with NFL insider Ian Rapoport pointing to an “uphill battle” for Toney to return to the team in the offseason.

The absence of Toney is not going to have much impact on the line for the game. He has not seen action for the Chiefs since a Dec. 17 win over the New England Patriots. Fans can still get in on the Super Bowl action via SDS’s best mobile sportsbook apps.

Originally a first-round pick by the New York Giants, Toney was acquired by Kansas City during the 2022 season. Despite a limited impact with the Chiefs, he recorded a touchdown catch and had a crucial punt return in last year’s Super Bowl win.

This season, Toney has been on the wrong side of stories, including a game-deciding offensive offsides penalty that wiped away a game-winning touchdown against the Buffalo Bills.
