Kentucky adds transfer forward, standout shooter, for 11th scholarship player

Kentucky has turned to the transfer portal for the 11th scholarship player on Mark Pope’s first roster.
Ansley Almonor is the newest Wildcat. The Farleigh Dickinson transfer announced his commitment to UK on Thursday via social media.

A forward listed at 6-7, 219 pounds, Almonor heads to Kentucky after three seasons at Farleigh Dickinson. He was primarily a bench contributor as a freshman and a regular starter the past two seasons.
This past season, Almonor played in 32 games, making 31 starts. He averaged 16.4 points over 32 minutes per game, shooting 43.6% from the field including 39.4% from 3-point range. He logged 162 rebounds (5.1 per game), 54 assists, 22 blocks and 15 steals as a junior.
Almonor’s production improved year-to-year, up from his 13.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore starter in the 2022-23 campaign.
Almonor’s 93 made 3-pointers in 2023-24 are the most for an FDU player in a single season since 2007-08. He leaves as the program’s No. 23 all-time scorer (1,097 points) and fourth in made triples (180).

Kentucky up to 11 scholarship players
Almonor brings the first roster under Pope to 11 scholarship players.
Out of the portal, he joins Amari Williams (Drexel), Lamont Butler (San Diego State), Otega Oweh (Oklahoma), Andrew Carr (Wake Forest), Brandon Garrison (Oklahoma State), Koby Brea (Dayton) and Kerr Kriisa (West Virginia). The Cats also have incoming freshmen Collin Chandler, Travis Perry and Trent Noah.
