Kentucky lands commitment from elite 3-point shooter out of the transfer portal

Kentucky added a major piece to its 2024-25 roster on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats earned a commitment from ex-Dayton guard Koby Brea. This is a huge addition for the Wildcats, as Brea is considered to be one of the top available 3-point shooters in the portal.

Brea spent 4 seasons with the Flyers and averaged a career-high 11.1 points per game this past season. He shot a staggering 49.8% from 3-point range on over 6 attempts per game.
His 3-point shooting will come in handy as Mark Pope installs his offensive system this offseason. Last season at BYU under Pope, the Cougars shot 50.4% of their total field goal attempts from 3-point range. BYU ended up having a top-15 offense nationally, per KenPom’s adjusted efficiency metric.
As Kentucky continues to build out its 2024 roster, Brea immediately becomes one of the best shooters on the team. Prior to this commitment, much of UK’s transfer portal strategy appeared to revolve around defense-first players such as Otega Oweh and Brandon Garrison.
At 6-foot-6, Brea can guard multiple positions on the perimeter as well.
Brea is the 6th transfer addition for Pope and his staff so far this offseason. The Wildcats’ transfer class currently ranks No. 3 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
