It’s not often that Kentucky and Michigan State, 2 bluebloods on the college hardwood, meet. In fact, it’s only happened twice, both times in the Champions Classic: in 2013 in Chicago and 2016 at Madison Square Garden.
In 2022, the annual showcase featuring Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and Michigan State is in Indianapolis for the 4th time. John Calipari’s Wildcats face Tom Izzo’s Spartans to start the night off before Duke and Kansas feature in the 2nd game. Second-ranked Michigan State beat No. 1 Kentucky 78-74 in 2013 before the Wildcats returned the favor as the No. 2 team in the country by a count of 69-48 against the No. 13 Spartans.
On Tuesday, the series is renewed. Kentucky released an intense hype video over social media ahead of the matchup, which you can watch below:

The Wildcats are ranked 4th and sit at 2-0 on the young season after wins over Howard and Duquesne. Meanwhile, the Spartans are unranked and sit at 1-1, beating Northern Arizona before falling by 1 to No. 2 Gonzaga on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln in Friday’s Armed Forces Classic.
Tipoff between Kentucky and Michigan State is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
