Kentucky reveals captains for home primetime showdown against Tennessee
Kentucky has a big-time shot to win a big-time game on Saturday night in front of its suffering home fans.
The Wildcats, who have sunk to the very bottom of the SEC at 0-4 and are just 2-4 overall, welcome No. 17 Tennessee to Lexington for a primetime showdown on SEC Network. The kickoff is at 7:45 p.m. ET, at which time Kentucky will try to revive its 2025 season against the high-octane Volunteers. It won’t be easy, of course, and the Wildcats unveiled on Saturday afternoon who exactly will lead the team as captains.
Kentucky will feature 4 captains for the Week 9 battle. They are senior tight end Josh Kattus, senior defensive back Jordan Lovett, sophomore defensive lineman Tavion Gadson and senior offensive lineman Jager Burton. The UK quartet will be tasked with leading the Wildcats in a game that could potentially turn their season and take at least a little heat off head coach Mark Stoops.
Kattus has 12 catches for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns so far this season for Kentucky. Meanwhile, Lovett has 34 tackles, 23 of them solo, and 1 interception so far in 2025.
Gadson has 20 tackles, 9 of them solo, and 1.5 sacks for the Wildcats this fall. And Burton is a Lexington native, so he knows all too well how much a victory on Saturday night would mean to the program and the fans.
