Kentucky is set to lose key defensive lineman Keeshawn Silver to the transfer portal, according to a report.

That’s per On3’s Pete Nakos, who shared that scoop on Tuesday afternoon.

Silver is a former 5-star prospect who signed with North Carolina out of high school, but has spent the past 2 seasons in Lexington. He’s been a key part of Kentucky’s defensive front since joining the Wildcats and is set to depart with 43 tackles and 3 tackles for loss in his UK career.

According to Pro Football Focus, Silver played 313 snaps for the Wildcats this season. That’s second amongst all UK interior defensive linemen behind only star Deone Walker. PFF also graded out Silver as the best tackler on Kentucky’s defense with a grade of 80.9 for the 2024 season.

Silver is a big loss for Kentucky and is expected to garner plenty of interest from other top programs in the transfer portal this offseason. He has 1 year of eligibility remaining.

Kentucky’s 2024 campaign is over after going 4-8 during the regular season.
