Keondre Coburn is headed for the NFL Draft after 5 seasons at Texas.
The former 4-star recruit from Houston, part of Tom Herman’s 2018 recruiting class, had a year of eligibility remaining after a redshirt in 2018 plus the COVID season of 2020. He made 29 tackles, 4.0 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, and forced 2 fumbles in 2022, Steve Sarkisian’s 2nd season, earning a place on the Big 12’s all-conference 2nd team.
On Twitter on Thursday evening, Coburn announced he would declare for the draft instead of returning to Austin, saying “this next step is for my daughter”.
“Sadly, my time at the University of Texas has come to an end. I’m beyond blessed to have been a part of this university,” he said. “I want to say thank you to Coach Herman and his staff for the opportunity to earn my degree and play the game I love at this university. I want to thank Coach Sark, Coach Davis, and staff for helping me hone my craft for the next phase. I’m forever grateful for the relationships I’ve made in the D-line room to the field and beyond. Thank you for your support, Longhorn Nation!”
