Kerryon Johnson and Bo Nix never played together at Auburn, as Johnson left after the 2017 season and Nix didn’t arrive on The Plains until 2019.

Still, it’s clear Johnson has enjoyed watching Nix play these past 3 years.

Nix recently announced he was transferring to Oregon. Then, on Tuesday, Auburn’s offense struggled mightily in a 17-13 loss to Houston in the Birmingham Bowl.

As you can see below, that caused Johnson to come to Nix’s defense on Twitter:

It’s impossible to know at this point whether Nix would have been better than TJ Finley in the bowl game or not, especially since Bryan Harsin was calling the plays, not former OC Mike Bobo.

Either way, it seems there are some concerns about the Auburn offense moving forward. The quarterback will be different in 2022, but that doesn’t mean the new guy will be better than Nix, necessarily.
