Kevin Sumlin on recent racist threat: Safety ‘bigger than anything’

Kevin Sumlin has not had a great start in a crucial year for Texas A&M.
The Aggies are 1-1 on the season, but the record does not tell the full story. A&M squandered a 34-point lead to UCLA a season-opening loss, and it took a late field goal to seal a 10-point win against FCS opponent Nicholls State.
One A&M Board of Regents member has publicly called for Sumlin’s job, and Sumlin was even the target of an appalling piece of hate mail. Sumlin and his family do intend to press charges if the police are able to find the guilty party.
Sumlin made an appearance on ESPNU Radio’s “Full Ride” Thursday to discuss how he and his family are handling the situation. He says it was the safety factor that has been the biggest issue for he and his family:
“The safety factor, to me, was bigger than anything,” said Sumlin.
