Key Texas A&M linebacker to be ‘game-time decision’ vs. Auburn, per report
Key Texas A&M linebacker Scooby Williams will reportedly be a game-time decision for Saturday afternoon’s SEC showdown against Auburn at Kyle Field.
Williams’s status for Saturday was reported by On3 on Friday afternoon, a little over 24 hours before the 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN. The senior linebacker from Birmingham has been listed as questionable for the Aggies on the past 2 SEC injury reports.
His ability to get on the field on Saturday against Auburn will be huge for 9th-ranked Texas A&M, which will be trying to get to 4-0 in its SEC opener. Auburn is coming off its first loss of the season in that heartbreaker last week at Oklahoma, so it’ll be desperate to not lose back-to-back SEC games in consecutive weeks.
That just makes the possible presence of Williams even more crucial for Mike Elko‘s defense, which did allow Notre Dame to score 40 points in Week 3 even though Texas A&M still won that game. The Aggies are coming off a bye, and they’re hoping to have Williams in the fold in Week 5. Williams has 12 tackles this season, 5 of them solo, with 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception, so he’s got big-time playmaking ability and that could be missing from the Aggies defense against Jackson Arnold and Auburn.
