Kirby Smart provided an update on injured Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie after the Bulldogs’ 41-21 win over Mississippi State on Saturday.

Late in the 2nd quarter, Luckie took a big helmet-to-helmet hit from Mississippi State safety Jahron Manning while attempting to catch a pass from Gunner Stockton. Luckie remained down for several minutes while being tended to by trainers before eventually walking off the field, remaining out for the rest of the game. Manning, meanwhile, was ejected after an initial targeting call against him was upheld after video review.

According to WSB’s Alison Mastrangelo, Kirby Smart said that Luckie had wanted to return to the game later on. That said, officials on the sideline didn’t let him. Luckie was shown standing under his own power, albeit out of his pads.

Luckie, a junior, has made 10 catches for 81 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2025. For his career, he’s brought in 36 catches for 438 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Georgia’s win, its 5th straight, moved it to 8-1 on the season and 6-1 in SEC play. The Bulldogs return home as they host Texas in Week 12 and Charlotte in Week 13 before wrapping the regular season up against Georgia Tech at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
