Kirk Herbstreit’s weekly list of top performers from Week 9 of the college football season saw 4 SEC players make the cut.
The performance of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker and wide receiver Jalin Hyatt obviously drew a great deal of attention as the Volunteers continue to race through the 2022 season. Hooker threw for 245 yards and 3 touchdowns, 2 of which were pulled in by Hyatt. That gave Hyatt 14 on the season, a school record. Hooker now has thrown a total of 21 touchdowns and has been picked off just once.
Quinshon Judkins also received a nod from Herbstreit. The Ole Miss true freshman broke the 1,000-yard rushing mark against Texas A&M as he gashed the Aggies for 205 yards and a touchdown on 34 carries. Judkins now has 6 games of over 100 yards and is 5 yards behind Arkansas’ Rocket Sanders for the SEC lead in rushing yards, with his 1,036 yards currently 5th in Ole Miss’ single season record books.
Finally, Missouri’s Isaiah McGuire was a key part of the Tigers’ road upset of South Carolina. He totaled 5 tackles and got to Gamecocks quarterback Spencer Rattler twice in Mizzou’s 23-10 win to improve to 4-4 on the season.
