Lane Kiffin admitted that Ole Miss hadn’t been in the kind of situation the Rebels found themselves at halftime, as Vanderbilt led by 3 points before the Rebels responded for a 52-28 victory.
“It’s a strange feeling, especially for this group,” Kiffin told reporters. “We’ve been on the other side of this, now let’s go play a really good second half.”
Kiffin said it was Vanderbilt’s energy that caused problems early.
Jonathan Mingo set the Ole Miss single-game record for receiving yards with 9 catches for 247 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 72-yard catch that went for a TD in the fourth quarter. He broke the record set in 2020 by Elijah Moore also against Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Coach Kiffin: “I thought Vanderbilt came out with a lot of energy and gave us some problems energy. You’re sitting there in the first half with a minute late, down 10.”

Coach Kiffin on Mingo breaking the single-game record for receiving yards: “Really cool day for Mingo to break Elijah’s record that was done here. Great day by him…he’s worked hard. He’s one of the coolest kids we have by the way he works..Totally unselfish.”
