Nobody is safe in Boca Raton now, as the city awarded Kiffin the key to the city.

It’s somewhat obvious that FAU is doing everything it can to convince Kiffin to stay in Boca Raton for the long haul. The city awarded Kiffin the key, and he was recognized for the impact he’s had on the community since he took over the program in December 2016.

Kiffin has the Owls on a roll, too. In fact, Sports Illustrated ranked FAU ahead of 10 SEC programs in its post-spring top 25, and FAU finished 11-3 in Kiffin’s first season and won its first Conference USA Championship.

Who knows what the future holds for Kiffin, as he seems happy in Boca Raton. But it’ll be tough for the Owls to keep Kiffin should a big Power 5 program come calling.

It’s good for Kiffin to get out of the shadow of major college football and continue paving his own new path.
