New LSU head coach Lane Kiffin has certainly made a splash in his first recruiting cycle with the Tigers. The Portal King is living up to his name.
Multiple reports on Wednesday revealed that former Florida receiver Eugene “Tre” Wilson III has committed to LSU. Wilson was a blue-chip prospect as a recruit and viewed as one of the top receiver options in this year’s portal class.
According to the 247 Composite, Wilson was a 4-star prospect in the Class of 2023. He was the No. 21 receiver in the class and the No. 109 player overall in the class.
He instantly showcased his big-play potential at Florida, as he finished with 61 catches for 538 yards and 6 touchdowns as a freshman. In 2024, he played in only 4 games as he dealt with a hip injury that eventually forced him to have surgery.
This past season, he finished with 27 catches for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns. In the rivalry game against Georgia, he had nine catches for 121 yards and a touchdown, but suffered a sprained ankle that forced him to miss the rest of the season.
When healthy, Wilson has proven to be a game-changer at the receiver position, and could put all the potential together with Kiffin as his coach in Baton Rouge.
