Football is fun again in Oxford under new head coach Lane Kiffin. The Rebels continue torching defenses at a ridiculous rate behind Kiffin, quarterback Matt Corral and wide receiver Elijah Moore.

On Saturday night, South Carolina fell victim 59-42. Corral threw for 513 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Moore caught 13 passes for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Following the win against the Gamecocks, Lane Kiffin spoke to the media.

Opening statement

“Awesome win against a quality opponent. Most of the game are most fun to win when you kinda go back and forth like that. You feel like at one point you’re losing. They stopped us the one time we had to punt and they scored and we got behind. And we’re not stopping them, so it wasn’t a real good feeling. The stadium and the sidelines kind of felt dead. It was really cool to see our guys come back and make some plays on defense at the end to win the game.”

On Matt Corral and Elijah Moore

“Another ridiculous game. I don’t know if there have ever been two games back to back for a quarterback and a receiver, when you add these stats up, that have ever done that before. It was pretty amazing.”

On tossing his clip board into the air
“I just get excited…and sometimes players just make a play…someone will beat somebody…Players executed and you beat a scheme or a matchup…I just bget really excited when that happens, I guess.”

On running back Henry Parrish Jr.

“I thought Henry really did a good job in the last game at Vanderbilt and in practice, so I gave him a shot today. He’s going to be a really good player. He’s got special vision. It’s good to see him in there.”

On the Ole Miss defense

“I mean, I want to be positive. We won the game, we made some plays at the end, but at halftime, it wasn’t a real good locker room. We just told them, ‘Hey, we’re playing horrible. These guys had 150 yards of offense last time they played.’ We weren’t playing very good at all. The quarterback was 8-of-9 or something and 200 yards rushing. That was not easy to watch, but luckily we made some plays at the end and had a historic day, offensively.”

Wide receiver Elijah Moore at running back

“He’s just really natural. We just wanted to make sure we got him the ball. We were worried that No. 1 would be on him the whole day and they’d play man the whole day, so we wanted to confuse them. With him in the backfield, it’s hard to align when you do that. So, pretty cool for the kid to go back there and average seven and a half yards a carry, and he had another 12-yard run that was called back from a questionable penalty.”
