Lane Kiffin trolls Hugh Freeze amid Auburn’s recruiting woes

Lane Kiffin just can’t resist the chance to troll his rivals.
In a Sunday post on X (formerly Twitter), Kiffin quoted a Hugh Freeze post from May 19 about a golf championship. The current Ole Miss coach ribbed the former Rebel coach by calling attention to Freeze’s love of golf while Auburn struggles on the recruiting trail.

Auburn is currently last in the SEC in recruiting at No. 86 overall on the 247Sports Composite. AU has 7 total verbal commitments, while some of the program’s rivals landed double-digit commitments in the month of June alone. Ole Miss is currently 10th in the SEC and No. 37 overall on the Composite.
Even Golf Digest picked up on the fact that there is grumbling about Freeze spending so much time on the golf course when Auburn recruiting is struggling. Freeze made headlines recently when he said Auburn is struggling in recruiting because it is at a disadvantage following the guidelines from the new House settlement, while other programs are not.
First of all, you want to make sure you are operating with what the settlement says,” Freeze said. “We think we are. You know, we’re going by what we believe to be the accurate interpretation of it. It’s not really to our advantage to what we’re doing right now, because others, I think, are operating in a different manner.
Freeze’s take on the situation only led to more social media roasting. And now Lane Kiffin is getting in on the fun.
