We’d say it’s his ‘Luckie Day’, but it’s way more than luck for Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie. The junior Bulldog is having himself an afternoon against No. 5 Ole Miss.
The Bulldogs lead Ole Miss 40-35 with just under 7 minutes remaining thanks in part to not one, not two but three receiving touchdowns on the day for Luckie. His latest, a 7-yard slant reception, put the Bulldogs on top at a crucial moment.
Check it out below:
Luckie has been a red zone menace for Georgia all day today, and it’s giving Georgia life despite Ole Miss having scored touchdowns on 5 of their 6 first drives at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs tight end has 5 receptions overall, good for 43 yards and 3 touchdowns. Keep in mind, Luckie entered Saturday afternoon with just 5 receptions for 38 yards and zero touchdowns.
In fact, Luckie had found the end zone just 4 times total across his entire career at Georgia heading into this game. He had 3 touchdowns all of last season.
As mentioned, Ole Miss has played a great football game thus far. The Rebels led by as many as 9 at the start of the 4th quarter, but Bulldogs QB Gunner Stockton has led an impressive comeback. For now, the Bulldogs lead 40-35 with just over 3 minutes remaining.
