Lou Holtz’s mansion caught fire, burned for hours

The 11,000-square-foot mansion belonging to former South Carolina and Arkansas head coach Lou Holtz caught fire and burned for several hours before fire fighters could extinguish the flames.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that more than 60 firefighters and 26 vehicles arrived at Holtz’s Lake Nona house at 2:42 a.m. The fire was out by 5:59 a.m. Fire officials are checking to see if lightning in the area caused the fire.

Holtz’s home appraises for $1.6 million, and the extent of the damage is not known at this time. Holtz could not be reached by the Sentinel Monday.
