LSU adds pair of Pac-12 defensive linemen to bolster seemingly thin position

LSU was busy in the transfer portal to make up for losses on the defensive line, from Jalen Lee, a transfer from Florida, and then a pair of defensive linemen from the Pac-12.
After the Tigers lost BJ Ojulari and Jaquelin Roy to the draft, along with Desmond Little to the transfer portal, the Tigers re-stocked the defensive line. Oregon transfer DE Bradyn Swinson and Arizona transfer DL Paris Shand have committed to LSU.
A 6-foot-4, 235-pounder and third-year sophomore, Swinson played his high school ball as a 3-star prospect out of Douglasvile, Georgia before he signed with the Ducks in the 2020 class. LSU defensive line coach Jamar Cain recruited Swinson when he was on the Arizona State staff, and that relationship gave the Tigers an inside angle this time around. Swinson started in one of the 30 games he played in for the Ducks, and made 3 sacks and 35 tackles – 5.5 for loss – in a backup role.
Shand, who is from Toronto, Ontario, this past regular season made a career-high in tackles (23) and sacks (2.5). He also had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery last year in 9 games played (7 starts) for Arizona.
