Javien Toviano is back with the LSU football team after a suspension following a recent arrest. In July, Toviano turned himself in to police and was arrested on video voyeurism charges.
According to reports, a woman told police that she discovered videos of her being intimate with Toviano on his iPad. Toviano reportedly admitted to using a hidden camera. The woman told police that Toviano had recorded her in the past and she expressed that she did not consent to being recorded.
The arrest prompted a suspension from all team activities as part of LSU departmental policies. On Thursday, LSU coach Brian Kelly shared that Toviano has been reinstated.
“He’s back in football activities, and we’ll kind of get him going again back in the mix,” Kelly told media members. “Obviously, he’ll be a competitive player for us. He played for us last year. We’ll get him going as he works through his legal matters.”

Toviano is in his second season at LSU. He was a big get for the Tigers in the 2023 recruiting class.
Out of Arlington (Texas) Martin High School, Toviano was a highly-touted recruit, rated 4-stars, the No. 5 safety and No. 57 player overall on the 247Sports Composite.
Toviano saw time at cornerback and nickel as a freshman. His LSU bio notes that he was a consistent part of LSU’s secondary rotation late in the 2023 season.
Last season, Toviano played in all 13 games, making starts in three of the last five against Alabama, Florida and Wisconsin. He’s in line to build on that experience in his sophomore season.
Toviano recorded 33 tackles, including 20 solo stops. He posted a season-high of 11 tackles against Florida. Toviano also logged his first-carer pass breakup and a fumble recovery in the thrilling 52-35 win over the Gators.
LSU begins the 2024 season in Las Vegas facing USC for a Sunday primetime Labor Day Weekend showdown. Toviano, if available, will likely see playing time in the secondary.
