It didn’t take long for the Magnolia Bowl to create a highlight play on Saturday afternoon.
LSU opened the scoring on Saturday afternoon against Ole Miss thanks to a good bit of fortunate. Garrett Nussmeier’s was errant and nearly picked off, but still found an unintended target in Oklahoma transfer Nic Anderson.
Anderson saw the ball floating after taking a deflection, dove into the end zone and secured the catch to give the Tigers an early 7-0 lead.
Here’s a look at the big play:
That’s a huge momentum swing for the Tigers, who are looking to remain undefeated on Saturday with a road win over the rival Rebels. Ole Miss is also undefeated on the year, meaning the winner of this game will be in good position to reach the College Football Playoff at the midway point of the season.
For Nussmeier, this was his seventh touchdown pass of the season. He’s off to a slower-than-expected start, but has been more productive in recent weeks. For Anderson, that was his second touchdown catch since joining LSU ahead of the 2025 season.
LSU is 64-42-4 all-time against the Rebels.
