The No. 20 LSU Tigers are set for a pivotal showdown against No. 3 Texas A&M this Saturday in Death Valley, and it looks like they will once again be without one of their best defensive players for the matchup.

According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, junior linebacker Whit Weeks will reportedly miss Saturday’s games against the Aggies as he continues to work his way back from a lingering ankle injury.

Weeks, who is one of the team captains for LSU, also missed the Tigers’ game against Vanderbilt last week with the same injury, a game that the Tigers ended dropping 31-24 for their second loss of the season.

A preseason First-Team All-American, Weeks has been stellar for the Bayou Bengals when he has been on the field, racking up 26 total tackles and 1 sack so far this season while also serving as the leader of the Tigers’ defense.

He was sorely missed last week against the Commodores as well, as Diego Pavia and the rest of the Vanderbilt offense put up nearly 400 yards of total offense on LSU, which was the second most any team has produced against the Tigers so far this year outside of Ole Miss.

Now, LSU will be forced to face another elite offense in Texas A&M without Weeks’ presence up the middle in a game that could end up deciding whether or not LSU ultimately makes the College Football Playoff.
