LSU reportedly ‘trending toward’ final decision on Brian Kelly’s future
LSU is “trending toward” parting ways with head coach Brian Kelly, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Sunday night.
Zenitz also reported that the process between LSU and the head coach is still “ongoing and no final determination has been made as of yet.”
Kelly’s Tigers suffered yet another brutal loss on Saturday night when No. 3 Texas A&M came to Baton Rouge and blew out LSU, 49-25. The Tigers actually led 18-14 at halftime, but the Aggies scored 35 straight points in the second half to take a 49-18 lead and send LSU fans to the exits long before the game was over.
Some of the Tigers fans who didn’t leave early stuck around to chant “Fire Kelly!” as the head coach made his way off the field following the loss on national TV. LSU dropped to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the SEC after the latest loss, which has sparked a deluge of rumors about Kelly’s immediate future in Baton Rouge.
Things don’t get any easier for LSU, which has a bye week before heading to Tuscaloosa to play No. 4 Alabama on Nov. 8.
The jury is out on whether Kelly will still be LSU’s head coach when that game is played in a few weeks.
