LSU is mixing things up for its final game of the 2023 campaign.

The Tigers revealed Monday morning that they are going gold-purple-gold for the ReliaQuest Bowl game against Wisconsin. LSU will stick with its traditional gold helmets, but sport the alternate purple jerseys in Tampa.

No. 13 LSU is 9-3 on the year, looking to pick up a 10th win in Tampa. Brian Kelly’s team will have to do so without Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels.

In Daniels’ absence, LSU turns to experienced backup QB Garrett Nussmeier. A redshirt sophomore, Nussmeier has played in 17 games over 3 seasons. Last year, Nussmeier played in the SEC Championship Game against Georgia, setting an LSU record for passing yards in a half with 294 over the final 2 quarters.

Nussmeier will have a strong supporting cast. LSU WR Malik Nabers, who led the nation in receiving yards with 1,546, is playing in the game as he chases the school record for career receiving yards. Fellow Tiger wideout Brian Thomas Jr., who led the nation in touchdown receptions with 15 in 2023, is also playing in the game.

The ReliaQuest Bowl is set for a noon ET kickoff from Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, airing on ESPN2.
