LSU suffered a potentially big loss in its wide receivers room for the 2026 season, with redshirt junior Nic Anderson heading to the transfer portal.

Anderson’s agency, Team IFA, told CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Wednesday morning of Anderson’s decision to leave Baton Rouge after just one season. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Texas native played in 10 games for LSU this past fall, catching only 12 passes for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Despite those underwhelming numbers in 2025, Anderson flashed star potential before and at the highest level in college football. He spent his first 3 seasons at Oklahoma before transferring to LSU for the 2025 season. Anderson played in 17 combined games for the Sooners, including a special 2023 season when he was actually healthy.

Anderson played in 13 games in 2023, catching 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns at Oklahoma during the season before the Sooners joined the SEC. He’s also shown an ability to find the end zone, with 12 career touchdown catches.

But it’s been a tough go for Anderson since that breakout 2023 season. He was hampered by a quad injury during the 2024 season, which pretty much wiped out his entire year.

Then came the transfer to LSU in the hopes of recapturing that magic from 2023, which simply didn’t happen in Baton Rouge in 2025.

Once again, injuries were an issue for Anderson last fall, and now the former 4-star recruit from the Class of 2022 is reportedly hitting the portal again in the hopes of landing someplace where he can thrive again in 2026.
