With Week 1 quickly approaching, South Carolina thought it had its quarterback situation set ahead of Shane Beamer’s debut as head coach.

Now, though, it seems those plans might be in jeopardy, as starting QB Luke Doty has reportedly suffered an injury during practice.

Per a report from The State, Doty injured his foot in Friday’s practice and met with doctors on Saturday to assess the severity of the injury.

Beamer is expected to speak to reporters on Saturday evening after a Gamecocks scrimmage.

In 2020, Doty threw for 405 yards, 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in limited action. He was in line to be the Gamecocks’ full-time starter in 2021.
