Malachi Moore reached out to Diego Pavia after letting his emotions boil over at the end of the Week 6 game, the Vanderbilt quarterback shared on The Paul Finebaum Show.

“He reached out to me on Instagram and texted me that he was apologizing for what he did,” Pavia told Paul Finebaum. “I can respect that. I respect him. He’s a great football player. He wants to win at all costs, and that’s something that we need on our football team here at Vanderbilt.

“He’s a special player. He made a lot of tackles, a lot of plays. The future’s bright for him. I wish him nothing but success. God bless him. Everyone makes mistakes, but people shouldn’t hold that over his head. He’s a great player and he’s going to be great for Alabama.”

Moore’s meltdown in Nashville has been a topic of conservation since Alabama’s stunning loss at Vanderbilt. Moore first addressed the matter in a written apology posted to social media on Monday.

On Tuesday, Moore was reflective of the investment he has put into being a member of the Crimson Tide and vowed that he would not repeat his actions, which he attributed to frustrations boiling over.

“The way I acted out of frustration… we put in so much work throughout the summer time. I look at my teammates. I see D-Law and I think about all the times we’ve been outside running gassers. I look at Que Robinson and (Jah-Marien Latham), Tim Smith, guys who’ve been here five years and put in all that work,” Moore said in a Tuesday media opportunity. “For us to go out there and not play up to our standard frustrated me, but I take full accountability for that. Letting my actions get the best of me. It won’t happen again.”

Plenty of attention will be on both players in Week 7. Pavia’s Commodores face the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington on Saturday. Moore and the Tide, meanwhile, host South Carolina.
