Things haven’t been great for Notre Dame lately as the Fighting Irish opened the season with two losses and a fall from the rankings that they once held a respectable place in.

But Notre Dame has had some solid players come through and has put together some historically memorable seasons in its time as a program. One of those was linebacker Manti Te’o, who was welcomed back in an emotional ceremony on Saturday.

In his time at Notre Dame, Te’o won the Maxwell Award and was the Heisman Trophy runner-up as a senior in 2012. That was the same season in which Notre Dame went undefeated during the regular season and made its way into the national title game.

He received a well-deserved ovation from the crowd upon making his way back.

Notre Dame remains scoreless roughly seven minutes into the first quarter of action against the California Golden Bears.
