Two weeks into the season, many Kentucky fans wanted coach Mark Stoops to be fired.
Now as the schedule turns to November, the Wildcats are one win away from a bowl game and near the top of the SEC East standings.
Kentucky turned out perhaps its best performance of the year Saturday, a 35-21 win at Missouri that wasn’t as close as the score suggested. The Wildcats (5-3, 4-2) racked up 582 yards — 377 on the ground — while winning their fifth game in six weeks.
Here’s what Stoops had to say after the big win:
Mark Stoops: "Just a very good victory. Very proud of our team."

Stoops: They know we can do a lot of things better, but we did an awful lot of good things today.

Stoops: "For the first time, this isn't about the relief of winning the game. It's about what more we can do."

On huge running day: You have to give that credit to the offensive line, Stoops said. “They’re playing extremely hard and smart."

Controlling the clock was a big part of it, Stoops said. He credited some wrinkles out of the Wildcat as part of that.

I loved our guys preparation, the way they went about getting ready for the game, Stoops said. “They want to do the work."
