Urban Meyer’s and Jim Harbaugh’s coaching trees just keep growing.

Maryland hired Michigan defensive coordinator DJ Durkin, according to multiple reports. Durkin coached under Meyer at Florida in 2010.

Durkin, who was also Florida’s defensive coordinator under Will Muschamp, became UF’s interim head coach for the Birmingham Bowl before heading to Michigan under Jim Harbaugh. Durkin coached for the Gators from 2010-2014.

Durkin’s ties to Florida are a plus for Maryland, and he’ll recruit Virginia and the Carolinas better than most think. He’s a good defensive mind and even better recruiter.
