Matt Corral has had an interesting offseason in the NFL, to say the least.
Earlier in the offseason, Corral was waived by the Carolina Panthers after spending his rookie season injured. He never had much chance to make an impact and was pushed down the depth chart with Bryce Young being drafted and the team signing Andy Dalton.
After that, Corral did not have to wait long before being picked up by the New England Patriots, and early indications made it look like he would serve as the backup to Mac Jones. That is no longer the case with the Patriots signing Bailey Zappe to the 53-man roster and reportedly releasing Corral.

Corral’s release, however, contains an added factor. According to Doug Kyed with the Boston Herald, Corral left the team without any notice. That is an interesting turn for Corral, to say the least.

Corral was one of the top QB prospects during the 2021 college football season but sustained an injury in the Ole Miss bowl game following the season. He slid to the 3rd round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and now he’ll have to try and catch on with a new organization.
