The Ole Miss Rebels open the 2019 season with an interesting game, traveling to Memphis to take on the Tigers.

Memphis is a talented AAC squad, and the Rebels will need to be on their game to leave with a victory.

During his press conference at the start of fall camp on Thursday, coach Matt Luke explained why recruiting makes the Week 1 showdown so important for Ole Miss:

“It’s a big game for us, especially with all the young players we have going into it. Memphis is a great football team. It’ll be a challenge. They give you a lot of different formations, a lot of different looks to try and get you out of gaps. We’ll have to be sound.”

The Rebels currently have three players from Tennessee in their 2020 class, including one from Memphis. There are several other players in the area Luke would love to have, so this game will be very important.

Ole Miss faces a tough road, though. BetOnline.ag has the Rebels as a six-point underdog at the moment.
