Maui Ahuna, a Tennessee baseball star, has offered his own update about his availability.
It appears that Ahuna, a transfer from Kansas, is eligible to play following an NCAA decision that evidently came just 11 days after the NCAA informed Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello that Ahuna would be ineligible to start the season.
Ahuna shared his excitement in a Tweet Monday afternoon: “Suppah man is back.”
Ahuna was a splash addition for Tennessee in the NCAA transfer portal, but there was a report that Ahuna’s transfer was the subject of an NCAA inquiry regarding potential tampering.
Ahuna missed the first 5 games of the season and this development now means he’s eligible to make his return to the field for this week against Charleston Southern.
Vitello served a 3-game suspension against Dayton for Tennessee making improper contact with the shortstop during his recruitment. The head coach is expected to return with Ahuna this week.
