Max Wright is tamping down concerns at Texas A&M and as the tight end spoke to reporters on Monday, he struck an optimistic chord about the Aggies. He’s not worried about the future, and added that the team has faced a lot of adversity, especially with injuries.

“I am very confident this team hasn’t checked out,” he said. “… There is still a lot of ball left to play. If that mindset starts to creep in, the older guys have taken the younger guys under our wing.”

The Aggies lost their third straight game on Saturday at South Carolina, and that led to a question about players looking for other programs.

“The transfer portal stuff is always on the back burner…The formula to win is here,” he said. “People may start to think that is creeping in but I don’t think it is.”

About the quarterbacks, Wright said, “Haynes (King) is a warrior. He goes out there and fights. Conner (Weigman) did great. Anytime someone has to come into the game like that, it’s tough.”

Texas A&M returns to action this week against Ole Miss.
