Florida’s O-line gets thinner, McElwain says one QB is ahead

The constant theme surrounding Florida’s spring has been the lack of depth along the offensive line. The position has only eight scholarship players for spring practice. However, this group just got thinner heading into Saturday’s spring game.
Versatile offensive lineman Trip Thurman has missed all of spring practice with an injury, and key lineman Rod Johnson is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury.
Sounds like Gators OT Rod Johnson had a preexisting shoulder injury that doctors found something wrong with after stinger

Like Thurman, Johnson is a versatile offensive lineman who will be key in the fall. The timetable for his return isn’t available, but Jim McElwain certainly hopes he’s ready for fall camp.
However, in a different tone, McElwain also said redshirt freshman quarterback Will Grier is ahead of Treon Harris simply because he’s been able to practice more.
McElwain said Will Grier is obviously ahead in the QB battle "simply because he's been here more."

Harris missed practice time due to a death in the family, and just because Grier is ahead right now, this battle is far from over.
What’s the one thing Florida fans will be tuning into Saturday during the team’s spring game? It won’t be the offensive line or the running backs; it’s the quarterbacks. Florida fans – and the coaching staff – want to see Grier and Harris play well, and they want to see the football being thrown accurately, on time and with good results.
