Heading into the 2020 season, many consider Florida QB Kyle Trask to be the SEC’s best returning quarterback.

Can he have another big season and rise up NFL Draft boards ahead of the 2021 draft? ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. discussed that question this week.

Appearing on “The College Football Podcast with Herbie and Pollack,” Kiper said he currently has Trask as his fifth quarterback on the board (via 247Sports):

“He was almost my fifth quarterback going in,” Kiper said. “I said, okay, Jamie Newman you have to put him in there and Tanner Morgan, I like the way he plays. He benefits from a lot of good running backs and wide receivers around him. He’s still a really good quarterback. If I’d have had a 5-A, it would have been Kyle Trask. He’s one of those guys, his size, the ability to make all of the throws, Kadarius Toney out there every week with (Trevon) Grimes and the receivers they have. (Kyle) Pitts is a great tight end. There’s no question about that.

“He’s got receiving entities even though they lost some, Van Jefferson being the main guy. With his arm talent and the way he sees the field, he should be better. We’re always looking for that guy to make that big jump up. It wouldn’t be a huge jump up because he’s at 5-A right now, but he’s on the radar and everybody’s going to be waiting to see how he does. He’s one of the next group of quarterbacks that is not that far off.”

Trask and the Gators will have lofty expectations this fall. Can he work his way into the Round 1 discussion? We’ll find out this fall, hopefully.
