With a few spots to fill on his staff, Nick Saban apparently had his eyes on Michigan’s top recruiter Chris Partridge. Despite the overtures, Partridge doesn’t appear to be headed to Tuscaloosa.

The Wolverines outside linebacker coach and special teams coordinator has been in Ann Arbor for two seasons. During that time, he’s been named National Recruiter of the Year by Scout (in 2016) and 247Sports (in 2017). Michigan has also had one of the stingiest defenses in the country during his time within the program.

According to ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren, Partridge has turned down an offer to leave the school for Alabama. The door is still open for Partridge to leave Michigan but he won’t be leaving for the Crimson Tide.

Here are the comments VanHaaren posted on Twitter regarding the subject:

Alabama currently does not have a defensive coorindator or defensive back’s coach, following the departures of Jeremy Pruitt to Tennessee and Derrick Ansley to the Oakland Raiders.
