Mike Bianco, Ole Miss HC, updates ace Hunter Elliott’s injury status

Mike Bianco was the conveyor of bad news for Ole Miss baseball Tuesday evening. The longtime Ole Miss baseball coach informed media that ace Hunter Elliott will not pitch this upcoming week due to elbow tightness.
Elliott has amassed a laundry list of accolades across his 2 years in Oxford. He was named a 2022 Freshman All-American, named to the 2022 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and the Coral gables All-Regional team member from last season. He entered 2023 expecting to be one of Ole Miss’ top arms.
But with elbow tightness in a pitcher comes uncertainty. This is far from the start Elliott wanted in 2023.
Mike said Hunter Elliott won’t pitch this weekend because of forearm tightness. Awaiting final MRI result. #RebsBSB

Here is Mike Bianco’s full quote on Hunter Elliott. The summary: he had forearm tightness, felt better, but got the MRI anyway out of precaution. Now just waiting on results. He will not throw this weekend. pic.twitter.com/syNlSEm8eA

Ole Miss baseball, sans the Elliott news, has had a strong start to the season. They blitzed Delaware in opening weekend before taking care of business Tuesday against Arkansas State.
Next up for the Rebels is a 3-game weekend series against Maryland.
