Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies were able to take care of business against Utah State as they won 44-22 to move to 2-0 on the season. However, there was a scare for Elko and the team as star quarterback Marcel Reed suffered an injury that forced him to exit game in the second half.

After the game, Mike Elko was asked by reporters on the status of his quarterback, and he told reporters that Reed will be fine.

Hearing Elko say that Reed will be fine is big news for the Aggies. He played very well on Saturday, as he finished 19-of-28 for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also showed the playmaking ability with his legs, as he rushed the ball 10 times for 66 yards and 1 touchdown.

Having Reed healthy is pivotal, as the Aggies schedule gets much tougher next week when Texas A&M goes to South Bend to play Notre Dame in a rematch of from a game last season.

The Fighting Irish won that game, but the Aggies weren’t playing Reed at the quarterback position. A win in this game would put the Aggies right there as a contender in both the SEC and as a team that could make the College Football Playoff.

Kickoff is scheduled next Saturday from South Bend at 7:30 p.m. ET.
