Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies remained undefeated on Saturday as they knocked off the Missouri Tigers, 38-17 in Columbia.
The Aggies moved a step closer to clinching a spot in the SEC Championship Game, as well as a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Elko understands there is a ton left to play for, and he isn’t backing down from any of the lofty expectations. He’s also determined to not let Texas A&M slip up like it did a year ago.
“I think they’re a mature group,” Elko said after the win. “I think they know what they want, and we got great leadership. We got great players out here and we are going to go finish things the right way,”
Last season, Texas A&M was 7-1 with a chance to make the CFP. However, the Aggies lost three of their final four games to end the season at 8-4.
The Aggies were off last week after winning 49-25 in Death Valley two weeks ago, and the team didn’t skip a beat on Saturday in Columbia. Quarterback Marcel Reed has continued to make a run towards the Heisman Trophy, as he finished with 221 yards and two touchdowns. Rueben Owens had a big day on the ground for the Aggies, as he rushed for 102 yards and two more scores.
Texas A&M will be home next week when the South Carolina Gamecocks come to College Station. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET.
