Alabama tight end Miller Forristall isn’t DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy or Henry Ruggs, but he’s still an important cog in Alabama’s explosive offense. However, Nick Saban revealed that Forristall will be out six weeks Wednesday during the SEC Coaches Teleconference.

Saban explained that during Alabama’s win over Arkansas, his starting tight end took a shot to the throat, which injured his voice box. Forristall was checked out by trainers and went back into the game; however, Saban said Forristall ended up having to have surgery on his voice box.

“He got hit in the throat in the game, said he was OK,” Saban said Wednesday. “Doctors looked at him, and he went back into the game. … We further examined him, and he does have an injury to his voice box that required surgery and will keep him out for 6 weeks or so.”

The tight end has caught 12 passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Obviously, losing Forristall right before the LSU game isn’t ideal, and with six weeks on the shelf, it appears he’ll only be able to return for Alabama’s bowl game this season.
