Tyler Carter is staying close to home to play college football. The Vicksburg (Mississippi) standout edge defender is taking his talents to Starkville.

Carter took to Twitter on Monday to announce that he has committed to play for Mississippi State. He included a note with the following:

“First I want to thank GOD for giving me the ability and skill set to play collegiate ball at the next level I am so grateful for the support of my amazing family, coaches, and teammates. Their encouragement and dedication helped me achieve my dream of playing collegiate football at the next level. I am committed to working hard and giving my all on the field. I want to thank all the coaches and schools that has given me an opportunity to play for them but with that being said I will be committing to Mississippi State University”

Carter is listed as measuring 6-6, 251 pounds. He is rated 3-stars, the No. 14 Mississippi product and No. 34 ege defender by 247Sports.
