Mississippi State took step in the right direction last season when they won five games, and were able to make it to a bowl game. In coach Jeff Lebby’s first season, the Bulldogs didn’t win a single conference game, but they were able to get a win last year. They played teams like Texas and Tennessee to overtime, and the 2026 year is a huge chance to make another step in the right direction.
That success on the field is starting to pay dividends for the team off the field, as the Bulldogs are bringing in some of those top recruits. On Saturday, Lebby and his team got another talented receiver as receiver Javarious Griffin announced he would be staying home. He chose the Bulldogs over other schools such as Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Houston.
The next step for the Bulldogs is to start competing for an SEC Championship, and Kalshi sees Mississippi State with still a little way to go before contending for it.
According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Griffin is a 3-star recruit ranked as the No. 17 prospect in the state of Mississippi. He is also the No. 74 receiver in the class, as well as the No. 642 overall player in the class.
He joins a solid Mississippi State class that is currently ranked No. 25 in the 2027 class that is led by Caleb Unger.
