Mississippi State adds throwback logo to field at Davis Wade Stadium

When Mississippi State hosts Vanderbilt for its homecoming game on Saturday, things may look a little different, but familiar.
That’s because the Bulldogs will be wearing throwback uniforms for the contest, with the helmets featuring the “Flying M” logo the program used for a few years spanning the 1960s and 1970s. The logo was meant to represent the university’s “close ties to the United States’ space program and America’s drive to land the first man on the moon,” according to the original release from Mississippi State when the original announcement of the throwback uniforms was made in October.
The playing surface of Davis Wade Stadium, Scott Field, will also feature the “Flying M” logo. The university’s facilities team completed the work of painting the logo on the field on Thursday, which you can view below:

Mississippi State and Vanderbilt will kick off at 2:30 pm CT from Starkville. The game is set to be televised on the SEC Network.
