Mississippi State fans carry goal posts out of the stadium

Mississippi State fans were excited to celebrate an upset victory on Saturday night.
To some fans, it likely felt a bit strange to be rushing the field after defeating Arizona State, but the Sun Devils came into Davis Wade Stadium as the No. 12 team in the country. But after seasons of 5-7 and 2-10 in 2023 and ’24, it was certainly worth celebrating getting to 2-0 by knocking off the No. 12 team in the AP Top 25.
Various social media posts help piece together the scene on Scott Field after the game.

You notice the goal posts being carried off the field. Mississippi State staff was prepared and rescued the goal posts from the students. Plenty of celebration without them. State 24-Arizona State 20. pic.twitter.com/NdM7FwqiyX

After beginning the season with Southern Miss and ASU, Mississippi State has 2 more nonconference games scheduled for the next 2 weeks. MSU hosts Alcorn State in Week 3 and NIU in Week 4.
